How to break in a new jacket
3 min read · Leather Jacket Co

A new jacket can feel stiff for the first few wears. That is normal for most jackets.
Here is how to break yours in.
Wear it around the house
Put it on for an hour at home before you wear it out. Sit, reach and walk. The material loosens as it warms to your body.
Do this on a few evenings and it will feel more natural.
Flex the elbows and shoulders
Bend your arms and roll your shoulders a few times. This helps the sleeves and the back settle.
Do it gently. Do not pull or stretch the jacket.
Remember it is faux leather
Faux leather does not stretch in the way some animal leather can. That means size matters from the start.
Check your chest with the size guide and choose the larger size if you are between two. The Women's Slim Fit Biker Jacket and the Men's Classic Biker Jacket both list their sizes and care.
Short steps to start
Day one, wear it at home for an hour. Day two, wear it for a short walk. Day three, wear it to meet a friend. By the end of the week, you will know the jacket and how you like to wear it.
Hang it on a wide hanger between wears and wipe it with a soft damp cloth. Browse our men's jackets and women's jackets collections for more cuts.
